Dear Vincent Massey Families, 

We've had a busy day showcasing our school to Grade 6 students and families from our feeder schools. Opportunities like this open house really highlight the breadth and depth of our offerings here at the school. I particularly want to thank our leadership students who did such a great job of touring Grade 6 students around the building - quickly establishing a rapport with them and helping them to feel welcome. Also, our senior band put on a great performance for the students and VMTV's special 'Junior High 101' episode was appreciated by everyone. Thank you also to all the teachers who opened up their spaces and particularly to Mr. Rustemeyer, who led the open house this morning. 

In other news, our Grade 8's enjoyed their time at the zoo this week, with some intensive hands-on learning in the zoo's unique classrooms. Thank you to the parent volunteers, without whom we cannot run these events. 

Looking ahead, a group of Grade 9 parents are in the process of confirming a community farewell celebration event for our Grade 9 students. This will likely take place on the evening of Friday, June 20. While this is not a school sponsored or supervised event, we will push out communication to Grade 9 families as it becomes available. 

For current Grade 7 and 8 students, please expect information about course selections (option classes) for next year sometime next week. These course selections will be completed on PowerSchool by students but we will make sure that you have timely information to support them in these choices.

·                     Wednesday, April 16 – start of Term 4, final change for Grade 7 complementary course 'wheel' 

·                     Thursday, April 17 – Fire Drill practice 

·                     Friday, April 18 – No school, Good Friday 

·                     Sunday, April 20 through Friday, April 25 – Grade 9 Heritage Trip to Quebec/Montreal/Ottawa 

·                     Monday, April 21 – No school for students, System Professional Learning Day 

·                     Tuesday, April 22 – Grade 7 to Drumheller (7-3, 7-4 & 7-8) 

·                     Wednesday, April 23 – Grade 7 to Drumheller (7-5, 7-6 & 7-7) 

·                     Thursday, April 24 – Grade 7 to Drumheller (7-1, 7-2, 7-9 & LEAD class); Grade 8 Band performing at Alex Ferguson School 

·                     Friday, April 25 – Outdoor Leadership Grade 8 skills camp
