Dear Vincent Massey families,

One of the ways we support student learning and well-being is through partnerships with not-for-profit agencies, local businesses, government agencies and post-secondary institutions. A couple of these opportunities came across my desk this week.

The first is the Calgary Police Service's Junior Police Academy which may be suitable for students with an interest in law enforcement. You can click through on this link to get more information and apply

The second is the City of Calgary's "She Governs" program. This program is for young women and gender diverse youth in grades 9-12. Participants gain firsthand insights into government and hear from experts across local politics and public service through a Model Council meeting and Speakers' Panel. I have asked Social Studies 9 teachers to make suggestions for students who might be interested, and I will reach out to those students (and their parents) next week to support with their application if they would like. If you feel your child would be interested, please have them email me or stop by the office.

Our upcoming events for the next two weeks are highlighted below. The vaccination presentation is provided by our school nurse (AHS) and educates students about the vaccines (and the diseases it protects from) that are offered at the routine Grade 9 immunization program. It also includes information about how students can prepare themselves prior to vaccinations. Parental consent for vaccination is given to the nurse and is not collected by the school. As such, all students will receive this general information about this important public health measure.
