Dear Vincent Massey families,

This Wednesday, January 28, marks the halfway point in our year with the start of Semester 2. Please remind your child to check PowerSchool on Wednesday for their new timetable. We'll also have a short homeroom on Wednesday morning, when each student will be given a paper copy of their schedule. With new complementary classes for every student, I would like to spotlight a couple of pieces of complementary and extracurricular programming.

CTV News visited the school last Friday to talk to Mr. Rustemeyer and some Outdoor Leadership students about his recent National Geographic Fellowship and their learning in our Outdoor Education programming. You can watch the story on the CTV website here: https://www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/video/2026/01/17/calgarians-adventure-in-antarctica/ Thank you to Rusty and these students for representing our school so well.

Our Band Parent Association is working hard to support the accessibility and affordability of our music program. This includes an emergent need for replacement instruments. A simple way you can help is by signing up with Skip the Depot to donate your recyclables (cans and bottles) directly to this fundraising cause: https://app.skipthedepot.com/vincentmassemusicparentassociation

Pink Shirt Day is coming up on Tuesday, February 24th! In recognition of this event, the Calgary Hitmen will be hosting their annual "Be Brave" Hockey Game. The day is full of fun activities & games and inspiring messages related to how we can all do our part to put a stop to bullying. Grade 7 students will be joining students from across Calgary in attending this fun and inspirational event at the Saddledome. It will be a unique opportunity for our students to experience live hockey with a great message. Field trip forms will be coming home next week so please return them to homeroom teachers asap. If you are able to volunteer for this event (and want to enjoy a hockey game!), please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

High school guidance counselor presentations took place yesterday afternoon. If you have a child in Grade 9, please take time this weekend to discuss these presentations and the different high school pathways and course selections that were presented.
