Dear Vincent Massey families, 

 

Another week brought us another great outdoor Science learning opportunity, as our Grade 9's rafted down the Bow River, testing water samples and learning way more than they ever wanted to know about sewage treatment. This hands-on environmental chemistry learning comes just as students are starting final review for PATs and exposed them to a variety of career possibilities. Thank you to our Grade 9 Science team, especially Mr. Smith, for putting together this learning opportunity for students. Thank you also to the parent volunteers and to the Vincent Massey Parent Association, who made this trip more accessible to all families. 

 

At this week's parent association and council meeting, we discussed prioritization of funds raised through the casino. In addition to off-setting the cost of field trips like Riverwatch, funds have also been allocated to expanding our outdoor seating options for students. With many other items on the wish list, I encourage you to attend council in the fall to learn more about school operations and help make decisions that intentionally support student learning. 

 

Another celebration from this past week is our Track Meet. We had 88 athletes compete at the meet and had great success. Although the official results won't be in until next week, we did have several students finish first in their events. Congratulations to all the athletes and thank you to the many coaches who helped students to run, jump, and throw their very best!
