Dear Vincent Massey Families,
I've just finished watching the latest episode of Vincent Massey TV, our student-led news program covering all things Massey. There has been so much going on! This episode included high school tours, Valentine's cards for seniors, outdoor leadership, board games club, a look inside our Dungeons & Dragons club, studying the youth criminal justice system, Indigenous beading, leadership students reading to local preschoolers, band performances, the Calgary Hitmen game, volleyball updates, and more. While we can’t share this video outside of school (due to student privacy), we will have it playing in a couple of places around the school during our parent-teacher conferences next week. I would like to thank the staff members who make all of this possible, particularly because so many of these activities fall outside of their normal assigned duties and/or paid time.
Parent-teacher conferences will take place this coming Thursday evening and Friday morning. Bookings are open now and can be made through MyCBE until Wednesday afternoon, the bookings close at 4:00 pm. Please ensure that you have reviewed the semester 1 report card prior to your conferences. Parents are reminded to download or print the report card, as they are not indefinitely available for viewing.
Volleyball season will be finishing this Tuesday with the finals at Ernest Manning High School. Our junior girls team wrapped up their season with a hard fought loss in the semi-finals earlier this week. All of our other teams will be playing the finals:
· Junior Boys – 5:45pm
· Senior Girls – 7:00pm
· Senior Boys – 8:15pm
Spectators are welcome but students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, as these are 'away' games.
Next Saturday, March 21, the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth (CBFY) is hosting a conference for immigrant and refugee youth from Grades 7 and up. This event takes place at the Calgary Central Library from 10am to 3pm. CBFY provided the following additional information:
This year’s theme is “Strength in Every Story.” We truly believe every young person carries a story that matters. This day is about celebrating those journeys, building confidence, and connecting with other youth who understand what it means to grow up between cultures. There will be inspiring guest speakers, live entertainment, prizes, free swag, and lunch provided. More importantly, it is a space to feel seen, heard, and encouraged.
If you would like to see what last year’s conference looked like, you can watch highlight video here: Power of Voice Youth Conference 2025.
