Dear Vincent Massey families,
There has been lots of activity after school this week as we've hosted badminton tournaments for schools in our division. With the 8's and 9's completed this week and the Grade 7 tournament on Monday and Tuesday, I look forward to providing some highlights of the results next week.
We're also moving on to our last sport of the year – track and field. Tryouts for the different events are occurring throughout the coming week and students need to check the PE bulletin board for a schedule. Note the first tryouts - long distance running and long jump - will be before school this coming Monday, May 11. Needless to say, all students trying out need to be available for the track meet on June 12.
Here are a couple of additional updates for our Grade 9 farewell ceremony on June 24. The morning ceremony for homerooms 9-1 through 9-4 will be at 10:30am, not 10am as previously communicated. This timing supports our photobooth and food trucks. The afternoon ceremony for homerooms 9-5 through 9-9 will be at 1pm. Due to fire code restrictions, a maximum of 2 guests will be permitted per student. The community event in the evening will be from 4-7:30pm at the Glendale Community Association. This is parent organized event and staff will not be present. Tickets will be sold during lunch at the school in late May and early June.
We would like to thank the volunteers from Earth Science for Society and teacher organizer Ms. Renaud-Craigie for a fun day of hands-on geology and geophysics learning on Wednesday in our learning commons for all our Grade 7s. I saw a lot of engagement from students with this important field of science.
A reminder was sent out earlier this week about yearbooks. Ms. Riley and her team work hard all year to produce our self-published celebration of the year at Massey. Orders can be made through myCBE, go to fees, school based option fees and add to your cart.
Here are your upcoming events for the next two weeks:
