Dear Vincent Massey Families,

We hope you enjoyed the opportunity to meet with teachers over the last two days. Your active involvement in your child's learning is important and appreciated.

As we look ahead to the three weeks before the winter break, we consider those in need in our school and wider community.  Our Grade 8 and 9 Leadership students are teaming up to support our community this season through two charitable initiatives running from December 1–15.

Campaign 1: Warm Feet in the Streets – Grade 9 Leadership
We are collecting winter essentials for the Mustard Seed, including:

·                     Socks

·                     Toques and mitts

·                     Small, travel-sized toiletries (lip balm, lotion, shampoo/conditioner, nail clippers, etc.)

Campaign 2: Holiday Food Drive – Grade 8 Leadership
We are collecting non-perishable food items for the food drive.

All items for both campaigns can be brought to your child’s homeroom. Homerooms will compete to bring in the most total items across both campaigns combined, and there will be one fun prize for the class with the most donations at the end of the drive.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for helping our students make a difference in our community.

Grade 9 High School tours have been rescheduled for after the break. We appreciate the significant efforts made by our high school partners, given the cancellation of provincial diploma exams and the corresponding 'exam break'. A targeted email with more information will be sent to Grade 9 families but at this time, please mark your calendar for the following dates:

·                     Bowness, January 15

·                     Ernest Manning, January 26

·                     Western Canada, January 27

·                     Central Memorial, January 29

These tours will take place during the school day and Grade 9 students will only be able to attend the tour for their designated high school, based on their current address in PowerSchool.  Information on open houses and information nights for special programs can be found on each high school's website. Designated high schools can be verified through the Find a School tool on the CBE website.  Parents considering a transfer to a different high school can find more information on the CBE website

Here are your upcoming key dates for the remaining three weeks to the winter break:

·                     November 30-December 1 – Outdoor Leadership Skills Camp in Kananaskis
