Weekly Update for November 13-17

Good afternoon Vincent Massey families,

This message is coming to you a day earlier than usual, as the school is closed for the Fall break Nov 10 through 14 inclusive.  We have had introspective but productive PD day today, as all CBE staff participated in Maatoomsii'Pookaiks (Children First) Indigenous Education Professional Learning Day. We have considered our roles and responsibilities and taken action to further learning for self-identified Indigenous students, with a specific focus on the domain of Heart (Belonging).  This work ties in with our overall school development plan as we strive to create more opportunities for all students to feel a sense of belonging here at Massey.

A spirit of reflection and introspection was also felt on November 8, when we recognized Remembrance Day with a poignant assembly.  This included the traditional sharing of pictures of student relatives who served, or are serving, in the military.  I hope that, like me and my family, you will take a moment to remember on this Saturday, November 11.  Thank you to Mr. Malloy, Ms. McCauley, Ms. Clark, Mr. Morawski, and the many students who contributed to the success of the assembly.
