Dear Vincent Massey families, 

 

It has been a busy day today at Massey, as we celebrated the life and achievements of Terry Fox, while raising money for cancer research. Although his journey ended thirty years before even the oldest of our students were born, his message of hope and perseverance continues to resonate. Today's activity day gives us the opportunity to build community and we're grateful to Mr. Rustemeyer, as well as many other staff and our leadership program students, for making this day possible. Next week we will have two important events involving parents. The first is our first school council meeting and the annual general meeting of our parent association at 6:30pm on Wednesday, September 23. All parents and legal guardians of students are members of school council and we encourage you to attend, support the work of council, and find out more about our plans for the year. 

The second event is our "meet the teacher" open house on Thursday, September 24. The evening will start at 6:30pm in the gym, followed by a rotation through your child's schedule. There will also be an informational meeting regarding the cost, curriculum connections, and calendar for our proposed Grade 9 Heritage and Outdoor Leadership trips. 

We are asking all families to please check their MyCBE to ensure that all forms, including demographic verifications, are complete. The demographic form information are used by the provincial to confirm funding eligibility of students. We appreciate your support in ensuring that this information is completed in a timely manner. 

We will be having a school play this year. An informational meeting for auditions (actors and crew) for "And Then There Was One – A Spoof” by Michael Druce will take place this Monday, September 21 at lunchtime. We're excited to grow our fine arts programming, so please highlight this opportunity to your child.
